Artificial Super Intelligence

Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) is a hypothetical system that would surpass human cognitive capacity and agency across all domains, representing the evolutionary leap beyond human level Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). While AGI matches the broad reasoning of a human mind, ASI functions at a vastly superior, superhuman scale. This might sound too far fetched unless we remember that only a few decades ago, idea of AGI as we know today would seem to be hallucination. Whichever side of the divide you are, let us just look at the ASI.

Pathways from AGI to ASI

  1. Recursive self-improvement: An AGI system redesigns its own code and architecture, triggering an exponential intelligence explosion.
  2. Algorithmic shifts: Moving beyond standard transformers to new paradigms like neural symbolic integration or neuromorphic systems.
  3. Multi agent collectives: large scale networks of specialized digital agents collaborate to automate complex scientific research and development.
  4. Raw compute scaling: massive expansions in parallel computing power and data efficiency drive higher cognitive ceilings.

As the AI evolution races towards ASI (exciting some people and scaring others), one question prominently asserts itself: are we as humans ready for the ethical, legal and safety issues this can come with?
