FRIENDS Consult LTD at the helm of Uganda’s Microfinance Forum to Drive Financial Inclusion
The Government of Uganda, through the Bank of Uganda, is advancing its National Financial Inclusion Strategy to empower communities through enhanced access to financial services. A key pillar of this initiative is the revitalized Microfinance Forum (MFF), relaunched by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in collaboration with the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU). This national platform unites high-level practitioners to streamline microfinance services, addressing both supply and demand dynamics to foster inclusive economic growth.
FRIENDS Consult LTD (FCL) is proud to participate in the Microfinance Forum. At the MFF’s inaugural meeting in July 2025, our Managing Director, Dr. Andrew Obara, was elected Chairman of the Research and Capacity Building Working Group. Subsequently, at the Executive Committee meeting, Dr. Obara was elected the overall Chair of the National Microfinance Forum, underscoring FCL’s pivotal role in shaping Uganda’s financial inclusion.
Under Dr. Obara’s leadership, the Microfinance Forum aims to achieve significant milestones over the next twelve months, including:
- Enhancing research and capacity building to advance financial inclusion.
- Strengthening advocacy for last-mile financial access in high-impact areas.
- Leveraging digital technology to expand microfinance outreach and delivery.
- Broadening partnerships and funding for effective microfinance initiatives.
- Establishing a national repository for microfinance research and data.
As a trusted partner in financial inclusion, FCL is committed to collaborating with the Government, AMFIU, and stakeholders to drive sustainable impact. We invite organizations to join us in shaping Uganda’s economic future. Contact FRIENDS Consult LTD at info.friendsconsult.co.ug or visit https://friendsconsult.co.ug/.
