From Training to Transformation: My Journey as a BDS Provider

From Training to Transformation: My Journey as a BDS Provider

My name is Adong Collin, and I am proud to be a Business Development Service (BDS) Provider and agripreneur from Oyam District in Northern Uganda.

Through intensive capacity building supported by FRIENDS Consult Limited and GIZ Uganda, I gained critical skills in agronomy, access to finance, market linkages, and business development skills that have completely transformed how I work and who I can serve. I learned how to develop practical business models and plans tailored to the real needs of smallholder farmers, farmer organizations, and Agri-SMEs.

But the training did more than build my knowledge. It ignited a passion in me. I now walk alongside farmers across the Lango sub-region, helping them move from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture. I equip them with sound agronomic practices, connect them to financial services, and link them to profitable market opportunities that were once out of reach.

Today, I am not just a better professional I am a more purposeful one. I am confidently applying everything I have learned to grow my own agribusiness while helping others achieve lasting impact in theirs.

This journey is proof that when you invest in the right people with the right tools, transformation follows.
