Opportunity International (OI) is a non-profit organization that is works towards ending global poverty by creating and sustaining jobs. It empowers individuals to work their way out of poverty and give their children a quality education as the most sustainable way to transform their lives, families and communities.
Opportunity International conducted a market research to support its current partners in Rwanda & Uganda as well as to attract new financial Institution partners.
FRIENDS Consult LTD with its renown expertise in microfinance was contracted to provide qualitative and quantitative market research to help Opportunity International attract new financial institution partners and ensure that the current financial institutions partners develop sustainable Education Finance portfolios.
During the course of the assignment FCL executed the following tasks:
- Conducted interviews for schools to provide insight on the profile of a typical school improvement Loan client, the financial situation of affordable private schools.
- Conducted interviews for parents to provide insight of a typical school fee loan, the financial situation of parents that send their children to affordable private schools and their credit history.
- Hired and trained enumerators for the exercise
- Wrote inception, mid and end report
FCL submitted the findings of the study in a market research report with suitable recommendations that were presented by OI to its financial institution partners to foster sustainable Education finance portfolios and also attract new financial institution partners.
