Uganda finance Trust now known as Finance Trust Bank transformed from a Microfinance Institution into a fully-fledged commercial Bank there by exposed to new risks. As a commercial bank FTB will deal with foreign Exchange transactions which rises the level of risk. To proactively manage transformation into a commercial bank, UFT sought to develop an appropriate financial risk management and ALM capacity which recognizes the risks at hand. This enables the institution management to identify, monitor and manage its financial risk exposure.

FRIENDS Consult was contracted to upgrade the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) reports and tools needed so that UFT would effectively manage the financial risks. The assignment was undertaken in a phased approach as follows: the diagnostic phase; implementation phase, training and coaching and monitoring. Finance Trust Bank is now a fully operational commercial Bank offering a wide range of financial services in Uganda.
